Product Description

Perennial to USDA zones 4b -10 (up to 7000’ elevation) Blooms from late summer to fall. Full sun to light shade. 24”-36” tall bright orange and lavender flower spikes. Hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees flock to its nectar-filled flowers. In full bloom, it is an explosion of color, reminiscent of the evening sunset, yet looks light and airy with its fine leaves. The greenish-gray foliage and blooms exude a pleasant root beer scent that reminds some of licorice or mint when touched. Leaves make a refreshing tea. Very drought-tolerant when established. Loves heat and well-drained soil. Also called Licorice Mint, Sunset Hyssop is a Southwestern U.S. native. Plant Select® Winner 1997. OUTDOORS: Sow in spring after average last frost date. INDOORS: Sow 4-6 weeks before average last frost date.
